TRX-06

TRX-06 is a small molecule matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor being developed by Pikralida for the treatment of snakebite envenoming. It is an oral formulation based on marimastat (PKL-021), a broad-spectrum MMP inhibitor originally investigated for oncology. TRX-06 is designed for rapid, pre-hospital administration following a snakebite to neutralize snake venom metalloproteinases (SVMPs). These enzymes are critical components of many snake venoms and are responsible for severe pathological effects, including local tissue necrosis, hemorrhage, and systemic coagulopathy. By providing an accessible oral treatment option, TRX-06 aims to mitigate permanent tissue damage and improve patient outcomes, particularly in remote regions where access to traditional intravenous antivenom therapy may be significantly delayed.
