VG203 is a next-generation oncolytic virus therapy developed by Virogin Biotech, utilizing a non-attenuated Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) backbone. It is engineered with Virogin's proprietary Transcription & Translation Dual Regulation (TTDR) technology, which ensures the virus replicates selectively within tumor cells by controlling viral gene expression at both the transcriptional and translational levels. This approach allows for high tumor specificity and potency without the traditional gene deletions (attenuation) that can reduce viral fitness. VG203 is designed to deliver and express immune-stimulating cytokine payloads, specifically interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interleukin-15 (IL-15) complexed with its receptor alpha (IL-15Rα), directly into the tumor microenvironment. This dual mechanism aims to achieve direct oncolytic destruction of cancer cells while simultaneously triggering a robust systemic anti-tumor immune response. VG203 has received Investigational New Drug (IND) approvals from both the U.S. FDA and China's CDE for the treatment of advanced solid tumors.
