Vilya's lead drug candidate is an orally bioavailable macrocycle designed to inhibit the integrin α4β7 for the treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Developed using Vilya's proprietary AI-driven computational platform, this molecule is engineered to combine the high potency and target selectivity typically associated with biologics (such as the injectable antibody vedolizumab) with the convenience of oral administration. By selectively blocking the α4β7 integrin, the drug prevents the interaction with mucosal vascular addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MAdCAM-1), thereby inhibiting the trafficking of pro-inflammatory lymphocytes into the gastrointestinal mucosa. This gut-selective approach aims to reduce intestinal inflammation while minimizing systemic immunosuppression. The program is currently in the IND-enabling phase of development.
