VivoVec is a proprietary gene delivery platform developed by Umoja Biopharma for in vivo generation of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. Unlike traditional ex vivo CAR T-cell therapies that require harvesting and engineering patient cells outside the body, VivoVec uses advanced lentiviral particles engineered with multidomain fusion proteins to directly target, activate, and transduce a patient's own T-cells in vivo. The platform delivers genetic payloads encoding specific CAR constructs—such as anti-CD19 or anti-CD20—enabling the body to generate functional CAR T-cells capable of targeting cancerous B-cells. Some candidates also incorporate a rapamycin-activated cytokine receptor (RACR) system to promote selective expansion and persistence of engineered cells without the need for lymphodepleting chemotherapy. Preclinical studies have demonstrated rapid, durable in vivo generation of functional CAR T-cells with robust antitumor activity and minimal toxicity.
