Overview

XBIO-020 is a preclinical-stage, next-generation cell therapy being developed by Xenetic Biosciences for the treatment of solid tumors. It consists of CAR-T cells engineered to express and secrete DNase I (deoxyribonuclease I), an enzyme that degrades Neutrophil Extracellular Traps (NETs) within the tumor microenvironment. NETs are web-like DNA structures that contribute to tumor progression, metastasis, and the physical exclusion of immune cells. By degrading these structures, XBIO-020 is designed to overcome the immunosuppressive barriers of the solid tumor microenvironment, thereby enhancing the infiltration and efficacy of the CAR-T cells in indications where traditional CAR-T approaches have historically shown limited activity.
