Drug intelligence / Profile preview
XW016 is an oral amylin receptor agonist peptide being developed by Hangzhou Sciwind Biosciences for the treatment of overweight and obesity. As a once-weekly, long-acting therapeutic, it utilizes proprietary oral delivery technology and optimized fatty acid modifications to achieve high oral bioavailability. XW016 works by targeting the amylin receptor to enhance satiety, reduce appetite, and improve glycemic control, offering a potentially milder gastrointestinal side-effect profile compared to GLP-1 receptor agonists. In January 2025, Sciwind Biosciences entered into a global licensing agreement with Verdiva Bio for the development and commercialization of XW016 outside of Greater China and South Korea. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical development and has demonstrated potential for co-formulation with oral GLP-1 agonists.
