ZBEAM is a combination chemotherapy and radioimmunotherapy regimen primarily utilized in the treatment of high-grade B-cell lymphoma, often as a preparative regimen before autologous stem cell transplantation. The regimen combines Yttrium-90 Ibritumomab Tiuxetan (Zevalin), a radioimmunoconjugate, with the BEAM chemotherapy regimen. The BEAM component consists of four cytotoxic agents: Carmustine, Etoposide, Cytarabine, and Melphalan. This multi-modal approach leverages targeted radiation, DNA alkylation, topoisomerase inhibition, and antimetabolite action to induce significant cytotoxicity in malignant B-cells.
