Fc gamma receptor-bearing immune cell activation via antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) is a key effector mechanism by which IgG antibodies mediate the destruction of target cells. This process involves the binding of IgG antibodies to target cells, followed by the engagement of FcγRs on immune cells (e.g., NK cells, macrophages) with the Fc region of the bound antibodies. This interaction triggers activation of the immune cell, leading to the release of cytotoxic granules or phagocytosis of the target cell. The efficacy of ADCC is influenced by factors such as FcγR expression levels, receptor polymorphisms, and IgG subclass.
