Overview
The cytokine receptor common subunit gamma (γc), also known as CD132 or IL-2RG, is a critical component of the immune system. It is a shared receptor subunit for multiple interleukin receptors (IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, IL-9, IL-15, and IL-21), influencing lymphocyte development, growth, differentiation, and survival. Mutations in the gene encoding this chain cause X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency disease (X-SCID).
