Overview

Multiple Cytokine and Chemokine Receptors represent a broad class of cell surface proteins that mediate the complex signaling required for immune system coordination and inflammatory responses (UniProt, 2023). Cytokine receptors, including those for interleukins, interferons, and tumor necrosis factors, typically signal through the Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT) pathway to regulate cell growth, differentiation, and activation (StatPearls, 2023). Chemokine receptors are a specialized family of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that primarily control the directional migration of leukocytes, known as chemotaxis, to sites of infection or injury (PubMed, 2021). Due to the high degree of redundancy and pleiotropy within these signaling networks, many pathological conditions—such as rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and various malignancies—involve the simultaneous dysregulation of multiple receptors (PMC, 2021). Therapeutic strategies often focus on broad-spectrum inhibition, either by using multi-specific antagonists or by targeting shared intracellular signaling nodes like JAKs, to achieve comprehensive control over the inflammatory milieu (DrugBank, 2023). This collective target entry is considered incorrect for specific molecular annotation as it refers to a functional group rather than a single protein entity.
