Therapeutic intervention typically involves targeting specific nodes within the network—such as TNF-alpha, IL-6, or the JAK/STAT pathway—to dampen pathological activity without completely compromising host defense. Consequently, while the network itself is too broad to be a single drug target, it serves as the essential framework for immunomodulatory drug development and the application of systemic biomarkers like the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII) for patient stratification (Hu, B. et al., 2014, International Journal of Cancer).
