Overview

Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is a cytokine primarily produced by epithelial cells. It plays a crucial role in initiating and promoting type 2 helper T cell (Th2)-mediated inflammation in allergic diseases like atopic dermatitis and asthma. TSLP exists in two main isoforms, a long form (lfTSLP) upregulated during inflammation and a short form (sfTSLP) involved in tissue homeostasis. Drugs targeting TSLP, like tezepelumab, aim to neutralize the cytokine and reduce inflammation.
