Overview

Tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) are molecules present at elevated levels on the surface of tumor cells compared to normal cells. "Patient-specific" indicates that the TAA is unique to an individual’s tumor profile, often identified through personalized analysis. They serve as targets for immunotherapeutic strategies like monoclonal antibodies, cancer vaccines and antibody-drug conjugates. However, because they are derived from self-proteins, they tend to have low immunogenicity, and therapies targeting TAAs risk inducing autoimmunity.
