Tumor-Associated Antigen Peptide-MHC Complex (TAA-pMHC)

Target
TAA-pMHC
Molecular classification
MHC Class I complex, MHC Class II complex, Peptide-MHC complex
01

Overview

Tumor-associated antigen (TAA) peptide-MHC complexes are molecular structures formed when peptides derived from tumor-associated antigens are presented on the cell surface by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules. These complexes play a central role in immune recognition of cancer cells, serving as targets for T cell-mediated immunotherapy. The complex consists of a peptide fragment derived from a tumor-associated antigen and an MHC molecule (either class I or II). The primary function is to display intracellularly processed tumor-derived peptides on the surface of cancer cells or antigen-presenting cells, allowing recognition by T cell receptors (TCRs). Targeting these complexes enables selective destruction of malignant cells, but challenges include immune evasion.
