Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of four active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Activated protein C** is a recombinant or plasma-derived serine protease with anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory, and cytoprotective properties. It inactivates coagulation factors Va and VIIIa, reducing thrombin generation and modulating inflammatory responses. Historically used for severe sepsis (withdrawn from market for this indication), it remains indicated for congenital protein C deficiency to prevent or treat venous thrombosis and purpura fulminans[1][5][7]. - **Artesunate** is a semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin, primarily used as an antimalarial agent. It acts by generating reactive oxygen species that damage parasitic proteins. - **Ceftriaxone** is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins; it treats various serious bacterial infections including meningitis, pneumonia, sepsis, gonorrhea, pelvic inflammatory disease, and others[6][8][10]. - **Doxycycline** is a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit; it has broad-spectrum activity against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. This combination does not correspond to any known approved fixed-dose product but may be used in clinical settings where multiple pathologies (such as severe infection with coagulopathy) are being treated simultaneously.
