Overview

This oropharyngeal spray is a fixed-dose combination developed by Geiser Pharma for the symptomatic relief of throat infections and associated pain. It contains three active ingredients: two antiseptic agents (amylmetacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol) and one local anesthetic (lidocaine). Amylmetacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol provide broad-spectrum antiseptic activity against bacteria and viruses associated with mouth and throat infections. Lidocaine acts rapidly as a local anesthetic by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, providing significant relief from severe sore throat and pharyngeal pain. The formulation is typically delivered as a 20ml peppermint-flavored topical spray and is approved for use in several markets as an over-the-counter (OTC) or pharmacy-dispensed healthcare product.
