anti-miR-762 is an antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) designed to inhibit the activity of microRNA-762 (miR-762). Research conducted at University Hospital Halle indicates that miR-762 is significantly upregulated following myocardial infarction (MI), where it impairs tissue repair processes. By antagonizing miR-762, this therapeutic candidate enhances endothelial cell migration and angiogenesis while reducing apoptosis. Mechanistically, the inhibition of miR-762 leads to the downregulation of CMPK2 and XAF1 protein levels, acting through the IFNγ-JAK-STAT signaling pathway. Preliminary data also suggest that anti-miR-762 may modulate aortic fibroblast activity, potentially leading to decreased scar formation and improved cardiac regeneration post-MI.
