Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound Cortex Phellodendri is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation, often prepared as a topical solution. It is composed of several herbal ingredients, including Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri), Lianqiao (Forsythia suspensa), Jinyinhua (Lonicera japonica Thunb), Pugongying (Taraxacum mongolicum Hand. -Mazz), and Wugong (Scolopendra). The primary active constituent of Cortex Phellodendri, berberine, along with other compounds like jatrorrhizine, palmatine, obacunone, and obaculactone, contribute to its diverse pharmacological effects. These include anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, anticancer, antioxidant, and neuroprotective properties. Clinical applications are being explored for conditions such as diabetic foot ulcers, pustular sores, and skin and soft tissue infections.
