Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a multi-agent chemotherapy combination consisting of four drugs: - Cyclophosphamide (an alkylating agent) - Vincristine (a vinca alkaloid) - Procarbazine (an alkylating agent) - Prednisolone (a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid) The regimen is used primarily in the treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Each component acts via a different mechanism to inhibit cancer cell growth and proliferation. Cyclophosphamide and procarbazine are cytotoxic agents that damage DNA; vincristine disrupts microtubule formation during cell division; prednisolone exerts anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects as well as direct cytotoxicity to certain lymphoid cells[1][3][6].
