Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of dimethyl fumarate and ponesimod for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. Dimethyl fumarate activates the Nrf2 pathway to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, while ponesimod is a selective sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P1) modulator that prevents lymphocytes from leaving lymph nodes, reducing their migration into the central nervous system. Preclinical studies showed synergistic effects in reducing disease severity and prevalence compared to either treatment alone.
