Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Filgotinib is an oral, small molecule drug that acts as a highly selective inhibitor of Janus kinase 1 (JAK1), a key enzyme involved in the signaling pathways of pro-inflammatory cytokines. By preferentially inhibiting JAK1, filgotinib modulates immune responses and reduces inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis in adults who have responded inadequately to or are intolerant to one or more disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Filgotinib can be used as monotherapy or in combination with methotrexate. It is also approved for ulcerative colitis and has been investigated for other inflammatory conditions[2][3][5][9].
