The mechanism of action involves the phages' ability to recognize, bind to, and inject their genetic material into target staphylococcal cells, leading to viral replication and subsequent bacterial cell lysis. While primarily targeted at *S. aureus*, the cocktail has demonstrated clinical utility against other staphylococcal species, including *Staphylococcus lugdunensis*, in salvage therapy settings where conventional antibiotics and surgical interventions have failed. The treatment regimen typically involves both local intra-articular injections and systemic intravenous administration to ensure comprehensive eradication of the pathogen.
