GlobiFer is an oral iron supplement specifically formulated to address iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia. It features a unique dual-absorption mechanism that combines heme iron (derived from bovine hemoglobin) with non-heme iron salts (such as ferrous sulfate or ferrous fumarate). This synergistic approach utilizes two distinct physiological pathways: the heme carrier protein 1 (HCP1) for heme iron and the divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1) for non-heme iron. By incorporating heme iron, GlobiFer achieves superior bioavailability compared to traditional non-heme supplements, as its absorption is significantly less inhibited by dietary factors (like phytates and tannins) or gastric pH.
