Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Huaban Decoction (Huaban Tang) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily used to clear heat, detoxify, and cool the blood. In modern clinical research, it is being investigated for the prevention and treatment of radiation-induced lung injury (RILI) in patients with lung cancer receiving thoracic radiotherapy. The formula typically consists of ingredients such as Gypsum Fibrosum, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, Oryza Sativa, Cornu Bubali, and Radix Rehmanniae. It is hypothesized to work by modulating inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-6) and fibrotic signaling pathways (e.g., TGF-beta1) to protect lung parenchyma from radiation damage. It is currently being studied in Phase 2 clinical trials, often in combination with other formulas like Shenling Baizhu Powder, to improve clinical outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients.
