IC-702

IC-702 is a next-generation, broad-spectrum small molecule topical ocular antibiotic being developed by Iacta Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis. It features a novel mechanism of action by simultaneously inhibiting three essential bacterial DNA replication enzymes: topoisomerase IV, DNA gyrase, and DNA primase. This triple-action approach is specifically designed to overcome resistance mechanisms found in fluoroquinolone-resistant and multi-drug resistant clinical isolates, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Formulated for topical ophthalmic administration, IC-702 is currently in Phase 2 development for the optimization of its formulation and advancement into clinical studies.
