Ilunocitinib is a veterinary pharmaceutical agent classified as a non-selective Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor. It is used for the control of pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis and for the management of atopic dermatitis in dogs aged at least 12 months. Ilunocitinib acts by inhibiting JAK1, JAK2, and tyrosine kinase 2 (TYK2), thereby blocking signaling pathways of multiple pruritogenic, pro-inflammatory, and allergy-related cytokines that depend on these enzymes. This mechanism interrupts the itch-scratch cycle characteristic of allergic skin diseases in dogs. Ilunocitinib is not a corticosteroid or antihistamine and has demonstrated efficacy superior to oclacitinib in clinical trials for canine atopic dermatitis[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. The drug is administered orally once daily.
