Overview
Jianpi Lishi Jiedu (JLJ) granules are a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation developed by Nanjing First Hospital and Nanjing Medical University. The granules are composed of six medicinal herbs: Codonopsis pilosula (Dangshen), Atractylodes macrocephala (Baizhu), Smilax glabra (Tufuling), Forsythia suspensa (Lianqiao), Lonicera japonica (Jinyinhua), and Cynanchum atratum (Baiwei). It is primarily indicated for preventing the postoperative recurrence of colorectal advanced adenomas, specifically in patients diagnosed with Spleen Deficiency and Dampness Toxin syndrome according to TCM theory. The mechanism of action involves the regulation of the IL-6/JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway, which is significantly associated with adenoma recurrence. JLJ granules modulate key proteins including IL-6, JAK1, JAK2, STAT3, CCND1, MYC, Bcl-XL, and SOCS3 to inhibit inflammatory and proliferative processes that drive recurrence.
