LC23-1306 is an investigational small molecule antiplatelet agent developed by LG Chem (formerly LG Life Sciences) for the treatment of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). It acts as a selective antagonist of the P2Y12 receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor for adenosine diphosphate (ADP) located on the surface of platelets. By inhibiting the P2Y12 receptor, LC23-1306 prevents ADP-induced platelet activation and subsequent aggregation, which are critical steps in the formation of arterial thrombi. This mechanism of action is consistent with established therapies such as clopidogrel and ticagrelor. Clinical development reached Phase 1, where the drug's safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamic effects on platelet inhibition were evaluated in healthy volunteers.
