Mizoribine + prednisolone is a combination therapy consisting of mizoribine, an immunosuppressive agent, and prednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid. Mizoribine acts as a selective inhibitor of inosine-5-monophosphate dehydrogenase, thereby inhibiting purine synthesis and suppressing the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes. Prednisolone exerts anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating gene expression. This combination is used primarily in the treatment of immune-mediated renal diseases such as IgA vasculitis (Henoch-Schönlein purpura), lupus nephritis, juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), IgA nephropathy, primary nephrotic syndrome, and in some cases for renal transplantation. The combination aims to enhance immunosuppression while potentially reducing steroid-related side effects[1][2][3][4][5].
