Overview

Modified Sijunzi decoction (MSJZD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula derived from the classic Sijunzi decoction (Four Gentlemen Decoction). It is primarily used as an adjunctive therapy to strengthen the spleen and replenish qi in patients with chronic conditions. In oncology, MSJZD is investigated for its ability to inhibit the JAK1-STAT3 signaling pathway and core targets such as EGFR, SRC, and AKT1, thereby reducing M2 macrophage infiltration and increasing CD8+ T cell activity to reverse the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. It is also utilized in the treatment of ulcerative colitis in remission, where it is formulated with specific herbs like Radix pseudostellariae, Atractylodes macrocephala, and Poria to regulate gastrointestinal motility and enhance intestinal mucosal immunity.
