Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NAL0338 is a topical cream formulation of alprostadil (prostaglandin E1) being developed by NAL Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of bedsores (pressure ulcers) and the promotion of wound healing. Utilizing NAL's proprietary drug delivery technology, the formulation is designed to improve the local delivery and penetration of alprostadil into the skin and underlying tissues. Alprostadil acts as a potent vasodilator and inhibitor of platelet aggregation by agonizing prostaglandin E receptors. By enhancing microvascular blood flow and local oxygenation at the site of the ischemic wound, NAL0338 aims to accelerate the natural healing process of chronic pressure ulcers. The drug is being developed via the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway, which allows for a more streamlined approval process by referencing existing safety and efficacy data for alprostadil.
