Overview

PEGA-OA4C174 is a pan-affinitive telodendrimer nanotrap (TDNT) resin designed for the extracorporeal removal of inflammatory cytokines in patients with sepsis. Developed by researchers at the University of California, Davis, this hemoperfusion resin consists of macroporous polyethylene glycol acrylamide (PEGA) beads functionalized with highly branched telodendrimers. These telodendrimers are engineered to capture a broad range of cytokines through a combination of charge-based and hydrophobic interactions, effectively neutralizing the "cytokine storm" associated with systemic inflammation. Compared to traditional macroporous resins, PEGA-OA4C174 exhibits high cytokine clearance efficiency with significantly reduced non-specific adsorption of essential serum proteins, suggesting superior biocompatibility and a lower risk of adverse effects during blood purification.
