Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN, polideoxirybonucleotide) is a DNA-derived biopolymer extracted and purified mainly from the sperm cells of salmon or trout. It consists of linear chains of deoxyribonucleotides (DNA fragments, molecular weights 50–1500 kDa) with regenerative, angiogenic, anti-ischemic, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-repairing properties[4][3]. Mechanistically, PDRN acts primarily via selective stimulation of the adenosine A2A receptor, modulating inflammation, promoting cell proliferation, collagen synthesis, and upregulating growth factors such as VEGF, nitric oxide, and others involved in angiogenesis and wound healing[1][3][4][5]. It also inhibits pro-inflammatory pathways, including NF-κB, and can modulate JAK/STAT signaling[5]. It is used clinically for wound and ulcer healing, treatment of tendon disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, burns, and osteoarthritis. No severe adverse effects are consistently reported in clinical studies.
