Overview
Sanqi Danshen tablets is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) product composed of extracts from *Panax notoginseng* (Sanqi) and *Salvia miltiorrhiza* (Danshen). It is widely used in China for cardiovascular health, specifically to promote blood circulation and alleviate blood stasis. The "second development" of this drug refers to clinical research aimed at expanding its therapeutic indications, specifically for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In this context, it is being evaluated for its ability to reduce liver fat accumulation (steatosis) and prevent or reverse liver scarring (fibrosis). The active constituents, including ginsenosides and tanshinones, are thought to work synergistically to provide anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective effects.
