scFv-Fc 119 is a fully human single-chain variable fragment fused to an IgG1 Fc region (scFv-Fc) that serves as an isotype control in preclinical oncology research. It was utilized in studies at the University of Pittsburgh to evaluate the efficacy of CSPG4-specific antibodies, such as scFv-Fc C21, in preventing melanoma recurrence and metastasis. As a negative control, scFv-Fc 119 does not bind to Chondroitin Sulfate Proteoglycan 4 (CSPG4) and allows researchers to account for non-specific effects of the antibody fragment scaffold on tumor cell signaling pathways, including PKCα, FAK, and Akt. In experimental models, mice treated with scFv-Fc 119 typically exhibit baseline levels of local tumor recurrence and lung metastasis.
