Overview

Shang-Ke-Huang-Shui is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) topical liquid preparation developed as an in-hospital formula by the Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is widely used in Southern China for the treatment of traumatic injuries, skin infections, and chronic non-healing wounds, including diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The formulation is derived from several classical 'heat-clearing and detoxifying' herbs, typically including *Coptis chinensis* (Huang Lian), *Phellodendron amurense* (Huang Bai), *Scutellaria baicalensis* (Huang Qin), *Gardenia jasminoides* (Zhi Zi), and *Rheum palmatum* (Da Huang). Pharmacologically, it exhibits potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic properties. It is thought to promote wound healing by modulating the local inflammatory microenvironment, reducing exudation, and enhancing tissue regeneration and microcirculation at the site of application.
