Supportan is a high-energy, high-protein oral nutritional supplement enriched with omega-3 fatty acids (specifically eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from fish oil), fiber, and antioxidants. Developed by Fresenius Kabi, it is primarily indicated for the dietary management of patients with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as cancer cachexia, who are at risk of disease-related malnutrition. In clinical research, Supportan has been investigated for its potential to reduce hepatic steatosis and improve insulin sensitivity in morbidly obese patients prior to bariatric surgery.
