Transferon

Transferon is a human dialyzable leukocyte extract (hDLE) developed by the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of Mexico. It is a complex biologic product composed of low-molecular-weight peptides (less than 10 kDa) obtained from the dialysis of disintegrated human leukocytes. Transferon acts as an immunomodulator by promoting the cellular immune response, specifically by inducing the production of Th1 cytokines such as interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and by increasing the activity of natural killer (NK) cells and T-lymphocytes. It is used as an adjuvant therapy for various conditions involving immune dysregulation, including infectious diseases (such as herpes zoster and hepatitis), allergic disorders (like atopic dermatitis and asthma), and certain types of cancer.
