TSGL-Ig is a novel recombinant tandem P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1) immunoglobulin fusion molecule designed to competitively inhibit the interaction between PSGL-1 and P-selectin. By blocking this interaction, TSGL-Ig prevents the initial temporary binding and rolling of polymorphonuclear (PMN) cells on activated endothelial cells and platelets. This mechanism is intended to mitigate intravascular thrombosis, microangiopathy, and increased vascular permeability during acute inflammation. Developed by Quell Pharma, the drug has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical large animal models of septic shock and ventilator-induced acute inflammatory lung injury (VILI), as well as rodent models of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and acute kidney injury (AKI).
