Overview

V56B2 is an orally administered bispecific domain antibody being developed by VHsquared for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The molecule is a fusion protein consisting of two humanized, llama-derived domain antibodies: V900, which targets the p19 subunit of interleukin-23 (IL-23p19), and V565, which targets tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). V56B2 is specifically engineered for intestinal protease resistance and features a central protease-labile linker, allowing for localized delivery and action within the gastrointestinal tract. By simultaneously neutralizing two key inflammatory cytokines (IL-23 and TNF-α) directly in the gut, V56B2 is designed to provide enhanced efficacy and a superior safety profile compared to systemic monoclonal antibody therapies, while offering the convenience of oral dosing.
