WP1193 is a small molecule **inhibitor of the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway**. It inhibits phosphorylation of JAK2 and STAT3, leading to cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis in glioblastoma stem-like cells. WP1193 demonstrates potent inhibition of cell proliferation in vitro and suppresses the growth of glioma in vivo. It also inhibits Jak1 in addition to Jak2, which may contribute to its broader in vivo activity, including effects against Bcr–Abl-positive cells and resistance mutations. WP1193 reduces stem cell marker expression, induces G1 arrest, and promotes apoptosis in cancer cells, making it of interest as a potential anticancer agent, especially for glioblastoma and chronic myeloid leukemia[1][4].
