Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zhisou Guomin Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula developed by Professor Gao Feng at Wangjing Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of chronic cough, particularly cases characterized by allergic features or "wind-pathogen" syndromes, which often align with cough variant asthma (CVA) or allergic cough in Western clinical practice. As a decoction, it consists of a combination of various medicinal herbs tailored to suppress cough, reduce airway hyperresponsiveness, and modulate the immune response. The formula is currently being evaluated in retrospective clinical studies to assess its efficacy and safety compared to standard pharmacological treatments like corticosteroids and bronchodilators.
