The meningococcal ACWY conjugate vaccine is a quadrivalent vaccine designed to prevent invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) caused by *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. This specific candidate, developed by the Shaanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, consists of capsular polysaccharide antigens from these four serogroups, each conjugated to a carrier protein. Conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigens into T-cell dependent antigens, which enhances immunogenicity, induces higher antibody titers, and promotes immunological memory, particularly in infants and young children. The vaccine is currently in Phase III clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety and immunogenicity in healthy individuals aged 2 to 55 years.
