Overview

pCMV-IGFBP7 is a recombinant DNA plasmid vector designed for the overexpression of Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein 7 (IGFBP7) under the control of a cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter. In preclinical research, particularly studies focused on cardiovascular disease and cellular senescence, this vector is utilized to investigate the pathological role of IGFBP7. IGFBP7 acts as a suppressor of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF1) signaling by binding to both IGF1 and the Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 Receptor (IGF1R), thereby inhibiting downstream Akt phosphorylation. This inhibition leads to cell cycle arrest, increased senescence markers (such as beta-galactosidase and γH2A.X), and reduced proliferation and migration of smooth muscle cells. Research suggests that IGFBP7 upregulation is associated with advanced coronary plaques and may serve as a target for anti-atherogenic therapies.
