Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**pTeroPure** is a patented, high-purity (>99% all-trans) branded form of pterostilbene, a stilbenoid antioxidant naturally found in blueberries and grapes. Developed and marketed by ChromaDex, it exhibits superior oral bioavailability, metabolic stability, and prolonged activity compared to resveratrol due to its two methyl groups. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT01267227) in adults with hypercholesterolemia demonstrated that pTeroPure at 125 mg twice daily significantly reduced systolic blood pressure by 7.8 mmHg and diastolic by 7.3 mmHg over 6-8 weeks, with a low dose (50 mg) combined with grape extract also lowering systolic BP; it increased LDL cholesterol but was deemed safe with self-affirmed GRAS status. It activates sirtuin pathways, mimics calorie restriction, and supports cardiovascular, cellular, and neurologic health, serving as a key ingredient in dietary supplements like BluScience.[1][2][3][4][5][7]
