Overview

TA99-IL2 is an immunocytokine consisting of the TA99 monoclonal antibody fused to interleukin-2 (IL2). The TA99 antibody component specifically targets gp75 (also known as tyrosinase-related protein 1 or TYRP1), a conserved tumor-associated antigen highly expressed in melanoma cells. By delivering IL2 directly to the tumor microenvironment, TA99-IL2 aims to recruit and activate immune effector cells, particularly natural killer (NK) cells, thereby enhancing antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) against established solid tumors. This therapeutic candidate was developed by researchers at ETH Zürich to overcome the limited efficacy of naked antibodies in immunosuppressive tumor environments.
