Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Theracurmin is a highly bioavailable, colloidal dispersion formulation of curcumin, the primary curcuminoid found in turmeric (*Curcuma longa*). Developed by Theravalues Corporation, it utilizes a proprietary wet-grinding technology to create sub-micron particles (nanoparticles) that are stabilized with gum ghatti, significantly enhancing its water solubility and systemic absorption compared to standard curcumin powder. Curcumin is a pleiotropic polyphenol known for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of multiple signaling pathways, including the inhibition of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and various pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-6. Theracurmin has been investigated in clinical trials for a wide range of indications, including osteoarthritis, cognitive impairment, cardiovascular health, and as an adjunct in oncology.
