Overview

Thymosin alpha-1 + xuebijing is a combination therapy used primarily for treating severe pneumonia complicated with sepsis. This combination leverages the immunomodulatory effects of thymosin alpha-1 and the anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and endotoxin-neutralizing properties of xuebijing. Thymosin alpha-1 is a 28-amino acid polypeptide that influences T-cell production and maturation, stimulates production of Th1 cytokines, and activates natural killer cell-mediated cytotoxicity. Xuebijing is a traditional Chinese medicine injection that suppresses sepsis through anti-inflammatory and antibacterial mechanisms. When used together, they have shown significant effectiveness in reducing inflammatory markers (IL-6, TNF-α, CRP), improving hemorheological status, and enhancing bacterial clearance in patients with acute septic bronchopneumonia (ASB).
