Overview
Yiqitongluo Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation, specifically categorized as Wa medicine, developed by the Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The decoction is hypothesized to work by regulating the Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1 (HIF-1), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), and Erythropoietin (EPO) signaling pathways, thereby relieving tissue hypoxia and improving microcirculation in affected nerves. In clinical studies, it has been evaluated in randomized controlled trials in China to assess its efficacy in improving nerve conduction velocity and alleviating clinical symptoms of DPN compared to standard pharmacological treatments such as Epalrestat.
