Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metamin 3D is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy comprising metformin, atorvastatin, and aspirin. It is specifically designed to manage metabolic syndrome by simultaneously addressing its key components: hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, and prothrombotic risk. Metformin, a biguanide antihyperglycemic, works primarily by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) to reduce hepatic glucose production and improve insulin sensitivity. Atorvastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor, lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels. Aspirin provides antiplatelet effects through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes, reducing cardiovascular risk. This combination aims to simplify complex treatment regimens and improve patient adherence. Metamin 3D was developed and manufactured by Standard Chem & Pharm and has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials in Taiwan, notably at Taichung Veterans General Hospital.
